President Samia Suluhu Hassan conveyed her message of condolences following the death of former Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Benard Member.
Mr Membe, who was among presidential candidates in the 2020 general election, died at Kairuki Hospital in Dar es Salaam on Friday morning, May 12, 2023.
Extending her condolences to family, relatives and friends affected by the loss of their beloved one, the Head of State praised Membe’s service to the country saying he always did his job efficiently.
“For more than 40 years, Bernard Membe served brilliantly as a public servant, a diplomat, MP and a Minister,” she tweeted.
Early reports say the former Presidential candidate under ACT-Wazalendo party rushed to the said hospital on Friday morning due to chest complications.
