President Samia leads Tanzanians in paying their last respects to Dr. Ndugulile

DAR ES SALAAM: President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Monday led hundreds of Dar es Salaam residents in paying their last respects to the late Kigamboni MP and World Health Organization (WHO) Africa Regional Director-Elect, Dr. Faustine Ndugulile (55), at the Karimjee Grounds.

Dr. Ndugulile, who passed away on November 27 while receiving treatment in India, will be laid to rest on Tuesday at the Mwongozo Cemetery in Kigamboni, Dar es Salaam.

Before the burial, his body will be taken to Machava Grounds in Kigamboni for citizens to bid their final farewell, followed by a burial mass at the Virgin Mary Consolata Parish.

The late Dr. Faustine Ndugulile will be remembered as a distinguished medical doctor, public health expert, and visionary leader who dedicated his life to improving healthcare and governance in Tanzania and beyond.

His career spanned various impactful roles, including serving as Deputy Minister for Health, spearheading drug quality regulation across Africa, and championing digital transformation as Tanzania’s first Minister of Communication and Information Technology.

A committed legislator and advocate, he held prominent positions such as Chairperson of the Geneva-based IPU Advisory Committee on HIV/AIDS and Maternal Health, contributing to global and regional health advancements.

Dr. Ndugulile’s recent election as WHO Africa Regional Director-Elect underscored his remarkable influence and promise to elevate Tanzania’s role on the global stage. His legacy of service, innovation, and dedication to public health and governance will remain an inspiration for generations.
