President Samia directs Health Ministry to assess COVID-19 situation

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has instructed the Health Ministry to evaluate the situation of Covid-19 in the country in order to be in the position of advising the general public how to go about as far as prevention measures are concerned.

The Head of State was forced to issue instructions after seeing a good number of people attending Kizimkazi Festivals in the Southern part of Unguja in #Zanzibar were barefaced.

“When I was coming here, me and my fellows had our masks on, but upon my arrival at the venue, I was surprised to see that no citizen was wearing a mask… This shows that people are tired of it. So, we are going to follow your [Ministry] instructions after evaluating the situation and inform us whether we should continue or rest a bit,” the President stated.

However, she reminded citizens that Coronavirus disease still exists therefore those who haven’t taken their vaccination jabs should do so immediately.

Meanwhile she expressed her deepest satisfaction with the recent censor’s exercise that was conducted in the country and thanked citizens in general for being cooperative.

“We have added seven more days for housing census exercise. This is an opportunity for those who have not been counted to be counted,” Samia added.
