President Samia credits Taifa Stars with 10m/-

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has gifted the national football team, ‘Taifa Stars’ 10 milion for their victory over Niger on Sunday.

This was said by the Deputy Minister for Culture, Arts and Sports, Hamis Mwinjuma at the Parliament in Dodoma stating that the President’s promise still stands and the team will receive their reward today.

In a tournament played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, TAIFA Stars defeated Niger 1-0 making a step further towards qualifying for the Africa cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.

The hard-earned victory firmly placed Taifa Stars at the second place with seven points prior to another Group F game between Uganda Cranes and Algeria who met in Cameroon late.

President Samia has shown great determination in supporting all teams representing Tanzania in International matches where earlier in February during the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup tournaments she promised to award 5m/- for every goal that will be scored by Simba SC and Young Africans which was later increased to 10m/-.
