President Samia appoints Kagasheki to chair Parole Board

  • President Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed Ambassador Khamis Sued Kagasheki as chairperson of Parole Board.

A statement issued by Director of Presidential Communications, Ms Zuhura Yunus on Thursday night stated that the experienced diplomat’s appointment begun is effectively from April 18, 2023.

The diplomat is a member of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) who has served in the government at various capacities.

He is the former Bukoba Urban Member of Parliament.

He served as Minister of Tourism and Natural Resources but he was forced to resign after MPs raised their voices against Tokomeza Operation which was linked to massive violations of human rights.

In response, then President Kikwete cancelled the operation, which geared to curb poaching.

Three others; the Minister for Home Affairs, Emmanuel Nchimbi, the Minister for Defence and National Service, Shamsi Vuai Nahodha and the Minister for Livestock Development, David Mathayo were sacked.
