Premier tasks Police Force to act on lawmakers’ torture claims

Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has tasked the Police Force to investigate Members of Parliament’s claims regarding tortures, injury and killing of people who are being accused of invading reserved areas.

The Premier issued the directive in Dodoma on Thursday when he was reacting to instant questions from Members of Parliaments he insisted that appropriate actions will be taken against all those who will be found guilty of violating the law.

The PM was forced to make the statement following various issues raised by MPs who claimed that rangers were mistreating citizens surrounding the reserved areas.

Additionally, Mr Majaliwa urged citizens with complaints regarding confiscation of property, livestock or injuries to timely report the same to Police stations and district authorities for the government to take actions.

“All operations should be carried out after citizens of the respective areas have been involved and given sufficient information,” he instructed.
