Ports, railway sectors herald Tanzania-Uganda business forum
UGANDA: THE Government of Tanzania has reaffirmed its strong commitment to working with various stakeholders to create an enabling business environment and enhance the participation of the private sector in trade platforms, including those held in neighbouring Uganda.
This statement was released today, April 8, 2025, by Masunga Biteko, who represented Tanzania’s Ambassador to Uganda, Major General Paul Simuli, during the ongoing Tanzania-Uganda Business Forum in Kampala, Uganda.
Biteko highlighted that the Tanzanian government has made significant investments in key infrastructure projects such as ports, railways, and airports to facilitate smoother trade between the two countries. He emphasized that these investments aim to improve the transportation of goods and services efficiently and at lower costs.

In his address, Biteko welcomed all participants to the five-day forum, describing the platform as a crucial opportunity for businesspeople to network, collaborate, and expand their markets. He encouraged attendees to seize the opportunities available, underscoring the importance of regional trade cooperation.
Furthermore, Biteko stressed that Tanzania and Uganda are not only geographical neighbors but also close economic partners. He noted that this collaboration—particularly through the involvement of the private sector—has great potential to unlock business opportunities, foster sustainable development, and strengthen long-term relations between the two nations.
