In a statement released by the Office of the Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Commander, the authorities emphasized that comprehensive security arrangements are in place to ensure a peaceful environment for all worshippers.

“The Dar es Salaam Special Zone police are aware that on June 7, 2025, Muslim faithful across the country will join others worldwide in marking Eid al-Adha,” the statement read. It added: “This important religious occasion involves various forms of worship, both in mosques and at open prayer grounds.

”The statement further noted that police are fully prepared to ensure that the celebrations take place in a peaceful and secure atmosphere.

In addition to deploying security personnel, the police urged parents and guardians to supervise their children during public gatherings and to take necessary precautions to safeguard their homes while attending Eid activities.

“We urge all parents and guardians to closely monitor their children during outings and public events. It is equally important to ensure that homes are not left unattended or without proper supervision during the holiday period,” reads part of the statement.

Moreover, the police underscored the importance of road safety, calling on drivers and all road users to strictly observe traffic regulations and exercise heightened caution throughout the festivities.

Meanwhile, authorities in South Unguja have announced stepped up security measures to ensure the festivities proceed peacefully and safely.

Zanzibar President and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, is expected to officiate at both the national Eid prayers and the Eid Baraza, underscoring the national importance of the celebration.

RPC Shillah said in press statement that police in his region have laid out a robust security plan, deploying officers to key areas including prayer grounds, celebration venues, beaches and entertainment spots.

He emphasized the police’s commitment to maintaining a peaceful environment throughout the holiday.

“We are fully prepared to provide security and ensure that citizens celebrate this important religious holiday in a safe and peaceful setting,” Shillah said
