Police nabs seven in Dar for abduction of 29-year lady

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Force is holding seven suspects allegedly for plotting, threatening with a weapon and abducting a woman known as Hani Hussein (29), a resident of Masaki.
The Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Commander SACP Muliro Jumanne Muliro, told reporters yesterday that the incident happened on October 16th this year.
“This incident happened on October 16, 2023 in the morning when Hani Hussein was driving her Toyota Rav4 car, suddenly in the area of Msasani Village, she was stopped by a group of people who entered the car, threatened her with a weapon, kidnapped her.
“They headed towards Mbezi Beach, where they held her by force for four days, while demanding 3.5 million dollars as ransom from her father, saying if not paid, they would kill the lady.
“After receiving information about the incident, the Police Force started monitoring and on October 19th this year, we managed to rescue her and arrest all the kidnappers. We also recovered the car as well as the weapon used, a Glock 19 pistol made in Austria with four bullets,” said SACP Muliro.
He named the arrested suspects as Hassan Abusher Nur (39), a Canadian citizen of Somali origin a resident of Msasani, Nathan Lungumisa (27), Fredick Chahonza (49), Assad Abdurasur (43), Fahad Mussa (32), Ilfan Saleh (41) and Nicolas Nilay (39).
He explained that the investigation were underway and all the suspects will be brought before the Kisutu Resident Magistrate Court for further legal action.
SACP Muliro said, the Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Force continues to issue warnings and will not hesitate to take immediate action against any person or group planning or engaging in criminal activities.
He said that the force has asked citizens to continue with crime prevention measures and to provide information about criminals to the police force.
