THE Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Commander, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) Jumanne Muliro has said at least 59 people suspected to be criminals have been arrested in the city.
SACP Muliro told journalists on Wednesday that the suspects have been apprehended following a special operation to hunt down criminals in the city, in which various items, including flat screen TVs, laptops, cameras, mobile handsets and illegal drugs were confiscated.
He stated that the operation started on April and it was ongoing at different places of the city.
The suspected criminals were caught with different items including 24 laptops, 59 mobile phones, 31 television sets, 31 gas cylinders of 16 kilogrammes, nine cameras and two subwoofers. Some were also caught in possession of illicit drugs.
