DAR ES SALAAM: Police in Dar es Salaam have arrested a 19-year-old housemaid, Clemensia Cosmas Mirembe, who is suspected of causing injuries to her boss’s child after attacking him with a sharp object and then escaping.
The 6-year-old boy, Malick Hashim, according to the Force’s statement issued on Monday, sustained serious injuries to his neck.
Police say they nabbed the suspect hiding in an unfinished house (pagala) in Goba Kinzudi, Kinondoni.
According to a statement issued by Dar es Salaam Special Police Zone Commander SACP Muliro Jumanne Muliro, the incident occurred on Sunday, July 21, 2024.
SACP Muliro confirmed that Mirembe is currently in police custody and intensive questioning is underway. She will then be brought to court to face charges related to the incident.
However, the Police Force urged parents, guardians, teachers, and the community at large to educate children about people with bad intentions and to ensure that children move in groups and avoid close contact with strangers.

“Children should not be exposed to potentially dangerous areas, especially during the night,” Muliro advised.
In response to the incident, security measures have been intensified across Dar es Salaam.
The Dar es Salaam Police boss stated that the Force is working closely with various law enforcement agencies and the general public to strengthen measures aimed at preventing criminal incidents.
