Police nab five suspects of murder
POLICE in Mwanza has arrested five suspects alleged for killing Joseph Mathius (28) a person with albinism with the intention of accumulating wealth.
The arrest come three days after the Mwanza Regional Commissioner Mr Adam Malima had given the force to one week to investigate and arrest all the suspects involved in the killing of innocent man.
Mwanza Regional Police Commander, (RPC), Wilboard Mtafungwa told journalists here yesterday that, Police were conducting investigation in order to arrest all other people involved in the crime.
He said the arrest of the suspects was made in cooperation with the citizens who informed the police force after observing the first suspect with a black bag in Misungwi searching for witch doctor to confess for the offence that happened recently in Nkwimba District of killing Mathius.
“Good citizens informed the police force after they were suspicious with the man, because he was walking while carrying the black bag which had bad smell and when they captured him they found a rotten right hand within the bag,”Mr Mtafungwa said.
“After receiving the information the police force went to the scene in nearby Misungwi District from Nkwimba region where the crime happened, and arrested the suspects Mr Mtafungwa narrated.
He said that upon arresting the first accused by the help of the citizens the Police took him to the hospital because he was seriously injured.
After recovering the accused was interrogated leading to the arrest of other four suspects.
“Police are proceeding with the investigations in order to arrest all people involved in the crime, “ he noted.
Meanwhile, RPC Mtafungwa said the police force has arrested fourteen people led by Buzilasoga Ward Councilor alleged for killing Getruda Dotto, a resident of Sengerema District due to land conflict.
He said the killing was done during the afternoon where the accused attacked a widow Dotto by beating and burning her.
However, the citizens also assisted the police force to arrest all suspects.
Furthermore, the RCP informed journalists that the police force has also arrested a woman for stealing a six year old child from her friend on October 30, 2022 in Ilemela District.
He called upon all parents and citizens to take precaution measures against all forms of crime including killing and abduction that bring misunderstanding and breach of peace within the community and the country at large.
For his part RC, Adam Malima directed the force to make sure that every person involved in the crimes are arrested stressing that “there is no room for citizens killing in Mwanza.”
RC Malima thanked all citizens for their cooperation with the police force which has enabled the arrest of the suspects.
Joseph Mathius (28) was killed around the midnight when his friend knocked the door at his home place based in Nkwimba District asking him to go together for alcohol drinking but after he opened the door he met with a group of people with pangas and knives who attacked him by beating and cutting his right hand a situation that caused severe bleeding which led to his death.
