“Preliminary investigations indicate that the student was grappling with personal and psychological distress,” Mutafungwa said, adding that officers are working to establish the precise circumstances surrounding the fall.
Expressing condolences to the family, classmates and school administration, the police commander urged parents, guardians and educators to maintain open communication with young people and seek early professional counselling when behavioural or emotional changes occur.
He also called on school administrators to foster safe environments where students can report personal challenges without fear of stigma, noting that police community-policing units will continue raising awareness on youth mental health support.
