Police in Arusha suspend five driving licenses

THE Arusha Regional Police Force has confiscated and suspended the driving licenses of five drivers for various offences including recklessness.

Issuing information on Wednesday, Arusha Regional Police Commander (RPC), Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Justine Masejo said licenses have been suspended for a period of three to six months.

“The drivers have had their licenses suspended for a period of three to six months for various offences including drunkenness, speeding, causing accidents, with repeated offenses as well as those who are overtaking other vehicles in areas that are prohibited by law,” he said.

Commander Masejo noted that the Force has successfully provided education in different areas of Arusha Region and it has been a successful progress so far.

“In terms of education, the Police Force in this region has successfully provided education in houses of worship, bus stands, schools, bodaboda quarters as well as in markets, where the community has gained sufficient understanding in relation to various road safety laws,” he said.

In addition, ACP Masejo issued a strong warning to drivers who continue to violate road safety laws and regulations. He said that the Force will continue to take tough legal action against any driver for breaking road safety laws.

He has also asked citizens to provide information on crimes and criminals in order to make the region safe as possible for everyone.
