Police get boost in cybercrime fight

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Police Force has said that it will continue to use Information Technology (IT) systems to fight cybercrime in the country, following advancement in science and technology.

This was stated by the Head of the Dar es Salaam Police Academy (DPA), Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) Dr Lazaro Mambosasa on Thursday while receiving computers from Sura Technologies Company Limited.

“Computers are modern devices which will help instructors in teaching students in DPA to ensure that they fight cybercrimes,” said Dr Mambosasa

He also urged students to use the computers properly so that they benefit from IT training to cope with global technological changes.

For his part, Mr. Edmund Mbao from Sura Technologies Company Limited said they decided to provide the IT equipment to the Police Force, which is directly involved in the fight against crimes in the country.

“We believe, the equipment will be used in training police who will receive IT training to deal with cybercrime here in the country,” said Mr Mbao.

Chief Instructor of the Dar es Salaam Police Academy, Assistant Police Commissioner (ACP) Andrea Legembo said that the computers will increase the effectiveness of IT teaching for students and instructors of the DPA.
