Police clear IPTL chairman Sethi of criminal records

THE Police Force has officially confirmed that Harbinder Singh Sethi, Chairman of Independent Power Tanzania Limited (IPTL), has no recorded criminal convictions in the country.

The Forensic Bureau issued a Police Clearance Certificate, reference number FB/FP/G.4/2026/VOL.III/49198, after conducting a thorough search of the national fingerprint database, which contains records of all persons with convictions.

The search returned a negative result, confirming that Mr Sethi has a clean criminal record as of March 18, 2026. The certificate is valid until September 18, 2026, and is required for visa and banking applications abroad.
The certificate is widely seen as a formal vindication, affirming his innocence.

“I’m thrilled to receive this clearance certificate,” Mr. Sethi said. “It reaffirms my commitment to contributing to Tanzania’s development, especially in the power sector.”
