Police arrest four for illegal firearms possession
DODOMA: POLICE in Dodoma Region are holding four suspects for allegedly being found in possession of firearms without a permit in the Dodoma Urban and Mpwapwa districts.
Dodoma Regional Police Commander (SACP), George Katabazi, told journalists that two of the suspects were arrested on May 17, 2025, on Kikuyu Mission Street in Dodoma with a pistol loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition.
Mr Katabazi further said that the other two suspects were arrested on May 19, 2025, at Lukole area in Mpwapwa District.
They were found with five rounds of shotgun ammunition and a locally made firearm, which had been modified by cutting off both the barrel and the stock.

Additionally, he said that Nestory Kimaro (38) and Thomas Paschal, also known as Sigan (29), residents of Mbabala, are being held after they were found with 2,420 litres of diesel stored in 89 containers inside a Toyota Hiace with registration number T 273 BKB.
In another development, Mr Katabazi said that during patrols, the police seized various burglary tools, six televisions and seven radios believed to be stolen properties.
“A total of 57 suspects involved in theft and burglary cases are currently in police custody. Of these, 30 have already been brought to court, while investigations continue for the remaining 27,’’ he said.
Police are urging citizens who own firearms to comply with legal ownership procedures, including voluntarily surrendering illegal weapons.
