PM thrilled by ICT training to people with disability
DODOMA: PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has expressed happiness with the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training offered by the Open University of Tanzania (OUT) to people with disabilities.
Mr Majaliwa expressed his pleasure when he visited the Ministry of Information, Communication and Information Technology exhibition at OUT pavilion at Bunge grounds in Dodoma.
The Premier urged OUT to make efforts to expand ICT training for special groups so that it can reach other parts of the country in order to benefit more people with disabilities.
Speaking during the exhibitions, OUT Director of the Institute of Educational and Management Technologies, Dr Chaterine Mkude expressed gratitude to the Minister for Information, Communications and Information Technology, Mr Nape Nnauye, for inviting their institution to participate in the exhibitions.
Dr Mkude added that the exhibitions have broaden the ICT understanding to people with disabilities, leaders and members of Parliament who will, in turn, go to inform their citizens at their respective constituencies.
IT Commission Director General, Dr Mkundwe Mwasaga, said that the exhibitions have widen the opportunities for cooperation between organisations in order to enhance efficiency in delivering ICT services in Tanzania.
The Ministry of Information, Communications, and Information Technology exhibitions held at Bunge grounds were aimed at giving various ICT organisations opportunities to showcase their services to leaders and members of Parliament, as the budget for the ministry was tabled last week. The exhibitions were held on May 16 and 17.
