PM orders PCCB to investigate delays in the construction of Kalambo Hospital

SUMBAWANGA: PRIME Minister Mwigulu Nchemba has directed the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) in Rukwa to investigate delays in the construction of Kalambo District Hospital, after it was revealed that two key buildings, including the surgical block and the male ward, remain incomplete despite the government allocating Tsh 4 billion for the project.
The directive was issued today, March 10, 2026, while the Prime Minister was addressing residents of Kasanga Ward. Dr Nchemba stated that contractors had received the funds they requested for the project, yet the construction is still unfinished, and they are now requesting additional funds.

Furthermore, Dr Nchemba warned negligent officials, emphasizing that the government would not tolerate projects that fail to meet required standards. He noted that some projects do not achieve the expected quality, materials are procured at prices differing from approved rates, and there are challenges in payments to contractors.
He also stressed that all councils nationwide must ensure development projects are implemented on time and at the required pace, to accelerate development and adequately serve the public.
