PM Majaliwa leaves for Shinzo Abe’s burial in Japan

PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has left the country today for Tokyo in Japan to attend the burial ceremony of the former Premier of the Asian country, Shinzo Abe.

The Premier will represent President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the event.

Before his departure, Mr Majaliwa held a discussion with the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East Africa Cooperation, Ambassador Mbarouk Nassor Mbarouk at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) in Dar es Salaam.

Japan’s longest serving PM died in hospital after he was shot at a political campaign event.

The veteran politician Abe was shot at twice while he was giving a speech on a street in the city of Nara in July, this year.

A 41-year-old gunman, Tetsuya Yamagami was arrested by security officials over the incident.
