PM graces the construction of 1.6bn/-.Nkasi vocational school

SUMBAWANGA: PRIME Minister Mwigulu Nchemba has today, March 9, 2026, laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Rukwa Regional Vocational Secondary School located in Majengo Ward, Namanyere, Nkasi District in Rukwa Region, worth 1.6bn/-.
The project implemented under the Secondary Education Quality Improvement Program aims to improve vocational education by equipping students with practical skills that will enable them to become self-employed and contribute to the country’s economic development.
According to information from the Prime Minister’s Office, the project began on December 20, 2024, and was initially expected to be completed by March 30, 2025.

So far, a total of 1.5bn/- has been spent on various construction activities for the school’s infrastructure.
Additionally, the office stated that construction of eight classrooms and an administration block has already been completed, and the facilities are currently in use, as well as the ICT and library building, a staff house, and toilets for boys and girls being completed and operating.

“The construction of other facilities is ongoing at different stages. These include a masonry workshop, which is at the electrical installation stage, an automotive and mechanical workshop currently at the flooring and electrical installation stage, as well as four dormitories—three at the roofing stage and one at the flooring and roofing stage,” part of the statement from the Prime Minister’s office read.
Other infrastructure under construction includes a laboratory building at the water system installation and flooring stage, a dining hall at the flooring and installation of doors and windows stage, and a water tank that is being connected to the water supply from Namanyere Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority.
In implementing the project, the residents have provided 38 acres of land valued at 38m/- as well as donating a three-classroom building shell worth 20m/-, bringing the total community contribution to 58m/-.
