PM blesses Namungo in their fortification bid

PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa said the Ruangwa- based Namungo are on a transformative strategy to ensure they have a strong squad for the coming Premier League season.

Speaking at the signing ceremony of their sponsorship deal with Insignia Ltd, the manufacturers of Coral Paints that also witnessed the unveiling of their new kit for the 2023/24 season, PM Majaliwa, who is also the team’s patron, expressed unwavering support for the team’s ambitions, propelling Namungo towards greatness ahead of the coming season.

Brimming with enthusiasm before hundreds of devoted Namungo supporters at the  Majaliwa Stadium on Tuesday evening, the PM emphasized the team’s resolute determination for the upcoming season.

“We embrace the spirit of competition, and we are exceptionally well-prepared for the challenges that lie ahead,” PM conveyed his unequivocal confidence as Namungo  patron and a Member of Parliament for Ruangwa constituency.

After last season’s fifth-place finish, where the team bagged 40 points and narrowly missing the opportunity to compete at the continental level, the quest for glory has become an ardent mission for the spirited team.

He disclosed that they are setting their sights on the ultimate goal as Namungo targeting to secure a position among the top four teams in the Premier League.

He said this feat would grant them the honour of representing Tanzania in the illustrious CAF Inter Club tournaments.

While acknowledging the daunting task of clinching the top two spots of the league traditionally dominated by giants Young Africans and Simba,  the Prime Minister reassured fans that the team’s determination is directed towards securing a coveted place in the top four. However, he said he hopes the coveted title will one day belong to Namungo.

“The path to winning the Premier League title is very challenging, but we stand firm in our pursuit of the Premier League success,” said the PM.

“Yet, we will find a solace after securing the third and fourth positions that will open us a gate to the international level competitions, and we will fight with unyielding determination to claim that opportunity,” he affirmed.

Expressing his gratitude to the supporters and Coral Paints for their sponsorship, the PM praised the company for being steadfast in its commitment to uplifting Namungo.

He said Coral Paints’ support extends beyond financial assistance, as they previously contributed to the stadium’s renovation, proving their deep-rooted connection to the success of Namungo FC and the development of sports in the region.

Isaac Kiwango, the General Director of Insignia Company, expressed the company’s delight in partnering with Namungo FC for its prosperity.

In a striking show of support, Insignia Company has provided Namungo with a kit for home, away, and friendly matches.

Twaha Mpembenwe, the Chairman of Namungo’s Board of Directors underscored the significance of unity among fans, members, and supporters, asserting that collective dedication and unwavering loyalty are a key to the team’s triumph in the Premier League.
