Platinum Credits supports Likombe Health Centre
PLATINUM Credit Tanzania Limited has donated maternity equipment worth 6m/- to Likombe Health Centre in Mtwara District to help strengthen service delivery at the facility.
The equipment includes two special maternity beds, mattresses and delivery kits to help reduce the costs incurred by expectant mothers in the facility.
Platinum Credit Loan Manager Mr Richard Nyanga handed over the donation saying the aim was to reduce maternal deaths and other related cases associated with lack of service delivery gear.
“Through this small donation we are optimistic that it will assist improve service for pregnant mothers when delivering babies,” he said.
Mtwara District Commissioner Mr Dunstan Kyobya thanked Platinum Credit for choosing to donate the important maternal equipment to Likombe Health centre saying his office is very committed to ensuring the equipment are used as required.
“We really appreciate your very important support meant to improve maternal health care in our health centre,” he said.
Dr Incharge of Likombe Health Centre Victor Andrew said the facility faces an acute shortage of delivery beds a move that poses many challenges including maternal deaths.
He said the facility receives over 300 expectant mothers per month while the health centre has one delivery bed.
“We are very happy to have received two more special beds to help strengthen service especially when we are delivering maternal care to expectant mothers,” he said.
He said more beds are required as the centre has plans to build another maternity ward to handle the increasing number of patients reporting to the centre.
