Simba have succeeded to venture into the second preliminary round of CAF Champions League (CAF CL) thanks to a 4-0 aggregate triumph over Nyasa Big Bullets.
Zambian imported striker Moses Phiri has netted a brace at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam to enable his side emerge 2-0 winners in the reverse leg of the contest.
During the first leg encounter at Bingu National Stadium in Malawi, Phiri opened the scoreboard before substitute John Bocco’s goal which sealed a comfortable 2-0 away win.
Phiri who is enjoying his first spell at the Reds has had a perfect season after establishing himself as the ‘target man’ who is ruthless at the goal mouth.
With the sound victory, Simba have joined Young Africans as Tanzania representatives in the champions league as the latter outsmarted Zalan FC with a massive 9-0 aggregate win.
In the same token, Simba’s caretaker Head Coach Juma Mgunda continue to cherish his 100 percent performance at the helm of the club after guiding them to three consecutive wins.
However, it is still unclear if he stays put at the club as Head Coach or perhaps the club will recruit services of another trainer.
Minister for Culture, Arts and Sports Mohamed Mchengerwa was among key government officials who witnessed the match unfolding at the 60,000 capacity venue.
