PCCB urges female police officers to uphold integrity

ARUSHA: THE Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) have urged female police officers to uphold integrity in public service and take a leading role in fighting corruption to strengthen public trust in law enforcement.

Arusha Regional PCCB Commander, Ms Zawadi Ngailo made the call while closing the Tanzania Police Female Network (TPF Net) Week celebrations, which also marked the retirement of 10 female police officers.

Ms Ngailo said the Police Force plays a critical role in enforcing the law and protecting people and property, making integrity among officers essential in building public confidence.

“Corruption in public service undermines justice, equality and citizens’ trust in the government and its institutions,” she said.

She said every public servant has a duty to discharge responsibilities in accordance with the law, regulations and ethical standards, urging female police officers to become ambassadors of integrity by rejecting corruption and reporting unethical conduct whenever they encounter it.

Ms Ngailo said female police officers, because of their close interaction with communities through security and social responsibilities, are well placed to educate the public on the dangers of corruption, including sexual bribery.

She also paid tribute to the 10 retired officers honoured during the event.

“You have devoted your time, strength, knowledge and expertise to serving the nation through the Police Force. Your contribution to public service will not be forgotten,” she said.

The regional commander commended TPF Net Arusha for organising the celebrations and encouraged members to continue performing their duties with discipline, professionalism, integrity and patriotism.

TPF Net Arusha Chairperson, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Debora Lukololo said the network has 547 female officers in the region and focuses on empowering them through legal awareness and professional development.

She said the celebrations, held from September 1 to 5, included training on cervical cancer awareness, health education, compassionate service, quality customer care and leadership, alongside the farewell ceremony for the retired officers.
