In a bid to raise public awareness of the fight against corruption, PCCB in Singida Region recently introduced an innovative strategy of using traditional dances to educate communities on the effects of corruption and the importance of integrity in society.

The initiative was demonstrated during a traditional dance festival held in Iyumbu Ward, Ikungi District, Singida Region, over the weekend, where various groups delivered impressive performances while promoting the slogan, ‘Our Dance, Our Integrity’ (Ngoma Zetu, Uadilifu Wetu).

Speaking during the opening of the festival, Singida PCCB Regional Bureau Chief Sosthenes Kibwengo said Tanzanian communities possessed a rich cultural heritage, including traditions, customs, songs, dances and various art forms that could be used to educate and mobilise people in the fight against corruption.

“For a long time, traditional dances have been an important part of our lives, used to deliver messages and pass down knowledge and values from one generation to the next,” Mr Kibwengo said.

He said PCCB had decided to use cultural platforms to promote integrity and help build a society that valued justice, equality and development.
