Pamba FC seal first win of Premier League season

MANYARA: PAMBA Jiji FC have clinched their first victory in the Tanzania Mainland Premier League season, defeating Fountain Gate FC 3-1 in an action-packed match held yesterday at the Tanzanite Stadium in Manyara region.
The win elevates Pamba Jiji FC to 15th position in the league standings, now holding eight points, while Fountain Gate remain on fifth place with 17 points.
The game began with Fountain Gate adopting an aggressive, fast-paced strategy, maintaining possession and creating several opportunities to test Pamba’s defence.
However, despite their efforts, Fountain Gate could not find the back of the net until the 28th minute, when Elie Mokono converted a corner kick from Aron Lulambo to give them a 1-0 lead.
Pamba quickly responded, with James Mwashinga levelling the score at 1-1 in the 34th minute. The game took a dramatic turn in the 39th minute when Fountain Gate’s Abdulkassim Suelemain received a red card for a harsh foul on a Pamba player, forcing Fountain Gate to play with 10 men for the remainder of the match.
In the final moments before halftime, Salehe Masoud capitalised on the one-player advantage and scored Pamba’s second goal during stoppage time, sending his team into the break with a 2-1 lead.
As the second half unfolded, Fountain Gate struggled to equalise through persistent efforts. Pamba, however, remained defensively solid, determined to hold onto their lead. Fountain Gate’s goalkeeper made a costly mistake in the 86th minute, allowing Pamba to score their third and final goal of the match.
When the final whistle was blown, Pamba FC celebrated their first league win of the season, securing three crucial points and lifting their spirits for upcoming games.
In the current league standings, Young Africans continue to lead with 24 points, followed closely by Singida Black Stars with 23 points, while Simba SC are in third place with 22 points
