Over 900 young food vendors get boost from beverage company
More than 900 young food vendors have been equipped to take their rightful place as equals in the economy through a collaboration between Coca-Cola Kwanza Ltd (a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa) and the Institute of Social Work.
On Sunday, the youth received business and entrepreneurship training, focusing on bookkeeping, customer care and capital growth, as part of Coca-Cola Kwanza’s youth economic inclusion program, dubbed Chipsika Kiajira na Coke.
Coca-Cola Kwanza Ltd presented 300 Customized high pressure gas stoves, 300 (15Kg)-LPG gas Cylinders, 38 food cabin, 80 tables for food cabin, aprons, and t-shirts to support their businesses.

Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office-Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disability, Prof Joyce Lazaro Ndalichako, attended the official handover function at the Institute of Social Work, accompanied by CCBA in Tanzania Managing Director, Unguu Sulay.
Speaking at the function, Prof Ndalichako said: “I am very pleased with efforts made by Coca-Cola Kwanza Ltd for coming up with different economic inclusion initiatives that are leaving an actual impact to our society. Chipsika Kiajira is designed to equip our youth in this famous business with necessary skills and tools of trade needed for growth.”
Prof Ndalichako continued to heap praise to the company while urging other private sector organizations to support government’s efforts as they look at different ways to create employment opportunities for youth.
On the other hand, Coca-Cola Kwanza’s managing director, Unguu Sulay, pointed out that Coca-Cola Kwanza appreciates the continued collaboration between his firm and Institute of Social Work as they two have shared vision in social welfare. “This is what we refer to as partnership for growth.

His comments were backed up by Dr Joyce Nyoni, Head of Institute of Social Work who urged the beneficiaries to ensure they apply the skills given to their benefit and the benefits of the society at large.
Speaking earlier, Coca-Cola Kwanza’s Public Affairs, Sustainability and Communications Director Mr Salum Nassor said the beverage company will continue to identify opportunities and deliver to the country’s economic inclusion commitments to youth and women in our society.
