Over 600 delegates attend public sector internal audit conference

MORE than 600 delegates are expected to participate in high-level discussions on strengthening the country’s audit landscape during the 4th Public Sector Internal Audit Conference, scheduled for April 13–17 in Morogoro.
Organised by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Tanzania, the annual conference will be officiated by the Minister for Finance, Khamis Mussa Omar, under the theme “Driving Results Together: Internal Audit for Public Value.”
The event will bring together public sector leaders, policymakers and internal audit professionals committed to strengthening governance, accountability and effective public service delivery.
Speaking to reporters in Dar es Salaam over the weekend, the Vice Chairperson, Ms Christine Mbonya said preparations are at an advanced stage.
“This year’s theme comes at a critical time as the country continues implementing Vision 2050 and strengthening public financial management systems. Key topics such as data analytics, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), emerging risks and public finance governance will be discussed,” she said.
Ms Mbonya noted that the conference will feature a diverse lineup of local and international experts who will share practical experiences and global perspectives.
“We have secured highly experienced facilitators from both Tanzania and abroad who will share insights and best practices to enhance the effectiveness of internal audit across the public sector,” she added.
She explained that the week-long programme will begin with a Public Sector Governance Forum during the first two days, alongside a Public Sector Masterclass on April 13 and 14. This will be followed by the three-day main conference from April 15 to 17.
Participants will include board members, audit committee members, chief executive officers, accounting officers, risk and legal managers, chief audit executives, board secretaries, senior management teams, operational managers, internal auditors and other stakeholders.
The conference is expected to provide a dynamic platform for knowledge sharing, professional networking and collaborative solutions aimed at enhancing audit effectiveness and promoting sustainable public value in Tanzania.
