Over 10m houses have postcodes-report
A total of 10.8 million houses out of 14.35 million counted during the Housing census in August 2022 have been named and inscribed with postcodes.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) report issued on Tuesday, approximately 74.9 percent of houses enumerated during the exercise have postcodes.
Disaggregating the figure, NBS said that from the total number, a total of 10,406,722 equivalent to 74.8 percent of houses located in Tanzania Mainland have postcodes.
The report added that 78.2 percent of 440,421 houses counted were already registered with postcodes.
Tanzania conducted its National Population and Housing Census (PHC) on August 23, 2022.
October 31, 2022, President Samia Suluhu Hassan announced the National Population preliminary results.
The country’s population, according to the results, has increased to about 61.7 million.
