The National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA) has released Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) results for 2022, today where over 1.07 million candidates out of 1.34 million who sat for their final exams have passed.
Generally, the performance has dropped by 2.35 percent, according to the NECTA, but candidates who sat for their final examinations increased by 18.24 per cent compared to last year.
The council’s acting Executive Secretary, Athumani Almasi told reporters in Dar es Salaam on Thursday that 79.62 percent of candidates passed with grade A, B and C.
Disaggregating the figure, Almasi said, out of 661,276 boys who sat for the PSLE, 514,577 equivalent to 80.41 per cent passed their exams.
Of the 723,064 girls who sat for Standard seven final examination this year, 558,825 (equivalent to 78.91 percent) passed.
