Oryx donates LPG kits to various groups in Kagera

In supporting implementation of the government’s vision and agenda for the use of clean energy, Oryx Gas Tanzania Ltd (OGTL)has donated gas cylinders to representatives of various groups from all districts of Kagera Region.

The benefited groups include health workers, teachers and female food vendors.

Regional Commissioner Fatma Mwasa graced the exercise yesterday.
Speaking at the event, Regional Commissioner thanked Oryx Gas Tanzania Ltd for considering Kagera Region in its campaign to promote clean energy use.
She also used the platform urging the residents to stop cutting down trees for firewood and charcoal.
Ms Mwasa also emphasized on the benefits of using gas, pointing out health and environmental benefits.
An official from company, Ms Antonia Kilama, who represented company’s Managing Director Benoit Araman, insisted that the company’s main intention is to support President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s efforts to make 80 per cent of Tanzanians use clean energy for cooking by the year 2030.

“Oryx has a sincere desire to help Tanzanians, especially women who are most affected by the use of wood and charcoal,” she said.
