OGTL assures Samia of continued support for clean energy campaign

TANGA: THE Oryx Gas Tanzania Limited (OGTL) has assured President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan of its continued support for the clean cooking energy campaign.

The OGTL pledged to distribute gas cylinders to rural areas, making them more accessible to the public.

Company’s commitment came after President Samia visited the Oryx Gas booth during the launch of the Clean Cooking Energy Campaign in Muheza District, Tanga Region, recently.

“When gas cylinders run out, they often remain in homes like furniture. That’s why I have engaged the private sector, including Oryx Gas and other stakeholders, who have assured me they will continue distributing cylinders so that people can keep using them,” President Samia said, praising Oryx Gas for its efforts.

Earlier, Oryx Gas Tanzania’s Clean Cooking Energy Project Manager, Mr Peter Ndomba, briefed the President on the company’s ongoing efforts to promote clean cooking energy.

He emphasized that their goal is to ensure every household owns a gas cylinder.

“We thank President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan for her commitment to promoting clean cooking energy. Oryx Gas has been a key partner, making significant efforts since the agenda was officially declared a national priority,” Mr Ndomba stated.

He added that Oryx Gas has expanded its distribution infrastructure, especially in rural areas, ensuring the availability of its gas cylinders in towns, districts, and villages. The company has also actively participated in initiatives that support the widespread adoption of clean cooking energy, including empowering women to achieve this goal.
