Nzega college tackles power, waste challenges

TABORA: STUDENTS at Nzega Nursing and Midwifery College in Tabora Region are set to have improved learning conditions after the institution received equipment to address electricity and waste-management challenges.
The college has received a generator and an incinerator worth 11.186m/- from Mashili Company Limited, which are expected to ensure training activities continue during power interruptions and improve the management of waste generated at the institution Mashili Company Limited Executive Director, Mr Peter Mashili handed over the equipment yesterday at the college in Nzega District.
He said the donation fulfilled a pledge he made on August 7, 2026, during the college’s fourth graduation ceremony.
Mr Mashili said the generator cost 4.2m/-, while the incinerator was purchased at 6.9m/-.

“The incinerator will help improve waste management, particularly waste generated through training and healthrelated activities, while the generator would enable learning activities to continue whenever there were electricity supply challenges,” he said.
Mr Mashili said the support was also part of efforts to improve the learning environment for students and tutors and contribute to the training of health professionals.
For her part, Nzega District Acting Administrative Secretary, Ms Zalna Dickolagwa thanked Mr Mashili for supporting the college through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
She said fulfilling the pledge had strengthened public trust in him because he had demonstrated commitment to promises made.
Ms Dickolagwa said the government would continue working with Mashili Company and other private sector stakeholders to support development initiatives in the district.
