Nyamalango Boys triumph over Amani Boys in Junior Cricket League

MWANZA: NYAMALANGO Boys emerged victorious over Amani Boys by a mere two runs in the TCA Junior League 2025 at Butimba ground in Mwanza yesterday.
The match, marked by a tense and low-scoring battle, saw both teams struggling with the bat but offering exceptional bowling performances.
Nyamalango Boys, winning the toss, elected to bat first but quickly found themselves in trouble, losing wickets at regular intervals.
Despite this, they managed to post a total of 44/5 in their 20 overs. The team’s top scorers were Charles Mchanga, who contributed 11 runs off 25 balls and Fredrick Richard, who made eight runs from 14 balls.
However, it was their extra runs, totaling 11, that proved crucial in setting a competitive total.
Baraka Philipo’s two runs off 10 balls was the highest individual score, though the team could not produce a big partnership.

Amani Boys began their chase with high hopes but quickly found themselves on the back foot.
The team was bowled out for 42 runs in 19.4 overs, falling just short of their target. Nyamalango’s bowlers were in superb form, led by Baraka Philipo, who took three wickets for just two runs in four overs.
Labani Samson also contributed significantly, claiming three wickets for five runs, while Fredrick Richard picked up two wickets for 20 runs.
Amani Boys struggled with the bat, and despite a valiant effort from Baraka Amos, who scored 12 runs off 42 balls, the chase collapsed under pressure.
The fall of wickets came quickly, and Amani Boys could not recover in time to reach the target.
While Amani Boys’ bowlers also gave a solid effort, particularly Chacha Juma with three wickets for seven runs in four overs, it was not enough to stop Nyamalango from securing the win by two runs.
