Nuru leads by one stroke at PG Tour

KILIMANJARO: PROFESSIONAL golfer Nuru Mollel took the lead by one stroke after the second round of the Lina Professional Golf (PG) Tour Pro-Am competition.
On Friday, Mollel scored four birdies and three bogeys to finish with a one-under 71, bringing his 36-hole total to 5-under 139 on the TPC Moshi Club course in the Kilimanjaro Region.
Mollel had an early 4-under par 68 lead on Thursday, tying with Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) pro Fadhil Nkya.
However, Nkya lost the shared lead but is still in contention, just one shot behind Mollel.
Hassan Kadio from DGC is in third place after scoring one-under on the first day and 76 on the second, bringing his total to 3-over 147, eight strokes behind Mollel.
Isaac Wanyeche from Kili Golf Club and Salum Dilunga of DGC tied for fourth with a total score of 4-over 148.
In the elite amateur category, host Ally Isanzu cemented his place on the leaderboard with a total level par of 144.
Ibrahim Gabriel, another TPC youth who started slowly with a score of 77, amended his mistake and hit a level par of 72 yesterday, bringing his total to 5-over 149 and second place.
Isiaka Daudi from Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) Lugalo Golf Club of Dar es Salaam lost ground after scoring 78.
Daudi has a total score of 151, dropping to third place as the battle sets to a climax tomorrow.
The 72-hole stroke play tournament, organised by the Saidi Nkya family in collaboration with the Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU), is exclusively for Tanzanian professionals and amateur golfers.
