No one will be left behind, says Mwinyi
ZANZIBAR: AMID cheers, chants and a sea of green and yellow flags fluttering in the afternoon breeze, CCM presidential candidate for Zanzibar, Dr Hussein Mwinyi brought his campaign to a rousing close at Mnazi Mmoja grounds in Unguja, reaffirming his commitment to transform Zanzibar without leaving anyone behind.
Thousands of supporters from across the Isles filled the historic venue, turning it into a festival of unity, dance and song as Dr Mwinyi made his final appeal ahead of Wednesday’s General Election.
The rally marked the culmination of weeks of campaigning across both Pemba and Unguja islands.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Dr Mwinyi expressed deep gratitude to Zanzibaris for their overwhelming support during his first term and pledged to build on the progress achieved under his leadership if reelected.
“We have laid the foundation for a new Zanzibar, one that is peaceful, modern and full of opportunities,” he declared.
“In the next five years, we will deepen our transformation agenda and ensure that every citizen feels the impact of development.”
Dr Mwinyi outlined ten key priorities for his second term, including strengthening the economy, improving health services, advancing education, enhancing infrastructure, promoting the blue economy, empowering youth and women, boosting tourism, protecting the environment, ensuring good governance and expanding social welfare programmes.
He said that his administration would continue implementing flagship projects such as road upgrades, water supply systems, affordable housing and modern fishing infrastructure to benefit both Unguja and Pemba.
“Zanzibar must continue to move forward. We will not go back. Our mission is to make this land a model of peace, prosperity and good governance,” he said, before taking time to demonstrate to CCM supporters how to correctly mark the ballot paper.

Party leaders, artists and senior government officials also attended the event, praising Dr Mwinyi’s achievements in stabilising the economy, improving public services and strengthening the Union between Zanzibar and Mainland Tanzania.
As the sun dipped below the Indian Ocean horizon, the rally ended in a powerful display of unity and emotion, with supporters chanting: “Tunaenda na Mwinyi, Mitano tena!” — “We move forward with Mwinyi, five more years!”
With the campaign period now officially over, Dr Mwinyi turns his focus to the ballot box, confident that the people of Zanzibar will once again entrust him with steering the Isles toward another chapter of progress and transformation.
