NMB pumps 80m/- to support Nanenane fair

THE highly anticipated Nanenane Agricultural Exhibition, which is set to bring together over 30 countries in Mbeya City has received significant support from NMB Bank through a sponsorship of 80m/-.

NMB Bank Acting Highlands Zone Manager, Mr Frank Rutakwa, said at the handing over of a dummy cheque to Mbeya regional authorities that over the past six years, during which the national exhibition has been held in Mbeya, the bank has sponsored a total of 255m/-.

“Supporting the agriculture sector is our pride. Through agriculture, our bank has engaged in significant business activities that contribute to the growth of the agricultural sector in the country,” said Mr Rutakwa over the weekend.

He noted that they believe it is important to collaborate with the government to ensure the success of the agricultural exhibition.

He added that recognising the contribution of agriculture to economic growth, NMB has established a specialised agriculture department and relationship managers in each zone to ensure the success of agriculture and its solid foundation for the country’s economy.

Mbeya Regional Commissioner Juma Homera stated when receiving the cheque that the bank continues to demonstrate its maturity by providing substantial sponsorship for the annual Nanenane agricultural exhibition in the Highlands Zone, which takes place consecutively in Mbeya on a national level.

He commended the bank as one of the leading financial institutions in the country that actively contributes to the government’s efforts in promoting agriculture.

“The sponsorship is of immense importance in ensuring the success of the Nanenane Exhibition, which will host exhibitors from 30 different countries,” he said, “This generous contribution will undoubtedly make the event more impactful.”

He also highlighted that besides financial support for the agricultural exhibition, the bank has been providing education and seminars to farmer groups participating in the Nanenane exhibition, making it a valuable learning experience.

“The government will continue to support your efforts in promoting economic growth through agriculture,” said RC Homera.

Over the years, NMB has solidified its reputation as a reliable partner in the agricultural sector through various initiatives, including farmer training programs, access to finance for smallholder farmers, and innovative digital solutions tailored to meet the needs of rural communities.
