Niffer, 21 others indicted for treason

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIAN businesswoman Jeniffer Jovin, popularly known as “Niffer” (26), and 21 others have been arraigned at the Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court, facing three charges, including treason.
The other accused in the case are; Lucianus Luchius (28) a teacher, Paul Malima (28), Augustino Mulwale (30), Mohamed Kondo (30), John Mmena (26), Paul Shirima (23), Ramadhani Ramadhani (21), Levi Mkute (40), Esau Ernest, alias “Duduye” (21), and Leonard Mkonyi.
Others are, Fadhili Nyombi, Hamisi Hamisi, Abeid Kivuyo (24), Nicholous Shiduo (27), Abati Mwadini (27), Mika Chavala (32), Fatuma Mzengo (30), Dewji Ramji (19), Ruthmelda Silaa (21), Hilda Ngulu (22), and Yusuph Hussein (22).

A team of the State Attorneys, led by Senior State Attorney, Clemence Kato today read the charges before Resident Magistrate Aaron Lyamuya, when the accused were brought before the court.
Reading their charges, the Senior State Attorney Clemence Kato stated that the accused face three charges, the first being conspiracy, and the other two counts of treason.
Elaborating, the attorney said that between April 15, 2025, and October 29, 2025, at various locations within Ubungo district in Dar es Salaam, the accused allegedly conspired and secretly planned to commit the offence of treason.
