MISSENYI District Executive Director (DED), Mr Waziri Kombo  has  hailed a Non-government organisation -Jambo For Development (JFD), for the support  in improving  the education sector through renovating   classrooms and water infrastructures.

He made the remarks recently   during the handing over of two classrooms at Kajunguti Primary School, a project that cost a total of 44m/- upon completion.  Out of the amount, Jambo For Development (JFD) contributed 26.4m/- (60 per cent), Missenyi Council contributed 13.2m/- (30 per cent),   while the community contributed 4.4m/- (10 per cent).

“On behalf of the government, I commend Jambo For Development (JFD) for the timely support that has enabled pupils to study in a conducive environment. I thus appeal to other NGOs to emulate the example,” he said.

Elaborating, he said Kajunguti Primary School was established in 1994 as a satellite school with only two poorly constructed classrooms whereby the pupils were studying by rotation. To-date the school has a total of 245 pupils in Standard One to Seven.

Ambassador Ahmad Ngemera, who is also  a  JFD board member, on the other hand, paid tribute to the late  Mr  Peter Buschbeck, a German national and member of the Jambo Bukoba Germany, who donated the money before his  untimely  death earlier this year.

“The late Peter Buschbeck made a saving before his untimely  death and left a written will that the funds should be channeled through Jambo For Development to improve the education sector in Tanzania schools. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he said.

Jambo For Development (JFD) Communication Officer, Mr Lameck Kiula, explained that through their five-year programme the NGO planned to improve the schools infrastructure in the eight Councils namely Muleba, Biharamulo, Bukoba DC, Ngara, Karagwe, Kyerwa, Missenyi and Bukoba MC.
