Newly constructed Dodoma Machinga Complex opens today

DODOMA REGIONAL COMMISSIONER (RC) Rosemary Senyamule

DODOMA Regional Commissioner, Ms Rosemary Senyamule has announced that the newly constructed Machinga Complex is now operational.

She said the facility, whose construction has cost more than 9bn/-, will officially be launched on Sunday. Initially, the newly contracted modern market was supposed to be launched last month, but it failed for unknown reasons.

RC Senyamaule said this during a meeting with petty traders who are expected to reallocate their business within the market. The meeting’s main objective was to listen and resolve the traders’ concerns before they start using the market.

Ms Senyamule, who was accompanied by the Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS) Dr Fatuma Mganga as well as leaders in charge of the market from Dodoma City Council, insisted that the authorities should create an enabling environment for petty traders to smoothly operate at the market.

She directed the executives to stay put at the market for the next three to four days to ensure smooth management of the exercise and ensure that the traders get their rightful stalls.

Senyamule requested the traders to maintain the facility, shun and protect the infrastructure against vandalism.

“I appeal to you to take care of this building because it has cost a lot of money. Let’s do business with honesty and integrity, let’s not steal from each other and take care of the cleanliness of the environment,” emphasised Ms Senyamule.

To ensure easy movement of customers to the market, the RC asked the Land and Transport Regulator Authority (LATRA) to establish new commuter routes for passengers to access the market before November 1st this year.

For her part, Dr Mganga insisted that everything was in place for petty traders to move in and for the new facility to start operations.
