New Majimoto TRA office to boost efficiency

BUSINESS people from Majimoto ward in Mlele district of Katavi region are breathing a sigh of relief as they have been relieved of traveling 300 kilometers to get tax services after Revenue Authority (TRA) opened new office at the area.

The TRA Katavi Regional Manager, Mr Jacob Mtemang’ombe said recently that the economy of the area is growing steadily and subsequently has recorded a big number of business people who are tax payers

“About 550 business people from this area have officially registered to TRA system … I’m sure many more have not yet registered due to the fact that the was not well covered by tax authority due to absence of its office we could not easily reach all of them” added Mr  Mtemang’ombe.

On his part Mlele District Administrative Secretary, Mr Lincolin Tamba urged business people to seize the opportunity of the tax office in their midst as it will help them get services easily and on time.

Katavi regional business community representative, Mr Jonas Amos said business people from the area have been relieved from traveling between 100 kms and 300 kms to get tax services in Mpanda town.

Across section of traders from Majimoto ward admitted that the absence of tax offices had caused them great problems as they entered into conflict with TRA officials who accused them of tax evasion.

“During those dark years we were compelled to traveling 300 kilometers to get tax services but now the same has been brought closer to us,” said Ms Mary Uroba a trader from Majimoto ward.
