New initiative bring healthcare and nutrition support to women steer vendors
DAR ES SALAAM: In a move aimed at enhancing healthcare services across the country, the Aga Khan Health Services has signed an agreement with the Women TAPO Organization focused on supporting female entrepreneurs, including street vendors, by addressing various challenges and improving their access to healthcare.
Speaking at the signing ceremony on Friday in Dar es Salaam, Regional Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Mohamed Mang’una, highlighted that the collaboration will enable women with essential healthcare services, particularly early disease screening.
He also assured that the government, alongside Aga Khan Hospital and other stakeholders, will continue to support women in accessing the healthcare they need.

On his part Acting Director General of Aga Khan Health Services, Karim Ddharani emphasized the institution’s commitment to delivering quality healthcare, especially to women, recognizing their critical role in society.
Executive Director of the Women TAPO Organization, Lulu Yassin outlined the reason behind the program, noting that many women entrepreneurs, especially markets and street vendors, struggle to fing time to prioritize their health due to demanding schedule.
She said the initiative aims to bring healthcare services closer to them, addressing a significant gap.
Acting Head of Business, Marketing, and Communications at Aga Khan Health Services, Olayse Lotha noted that the program will also offer nutritional education to enhance the women’s overall health.
The women welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that the healthcare and nutrition support would significantly improve their well-being.
