DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Women Tapo and Aga Khan Health Service Tanzania (AKHST)are set to launch a transformative national health initiative, dubbed Mama Samia’s National Local Women Vendors Health Caravan, aimed at providing comprehensive healthcare and empowerment support to women vendors across Tanzania.
The Caravan that scheduled to be launched next week in Mnazi mmoja grounds in Dar es Salaam is expected to benefit approximately 31000 women entrepreneurs across the country.
Addressing the journalists about the event yesterday in Dar es Salaam , the AKHST Chief Executive Office, Sisawo Konteh said the health caravan will offer various services including free medical treatment ( comprehensive health check-ups and medical services) and mental health screening.
Other service are health education,clean energy initiative ( distribution of clean cooking gas ), financial education and Women’s Economic Empowerment.

“The agreement between Tanzania Women Tapo and Aga Khan Health Service Tanzania (AKHST) is intended to providing comprehensive healthcare and empowerment support to women vendors across Tanzania,” AKHST boss insisted .
Tanzania Women Tapo Executive Director,Lulu Nyapili said the caravan will cover 31 regions of both Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar.
“This caravan is more than a health initiative,It’s a comprehensive approach to supporting the backbone of our local economies – women vendors ,” she asserted.
Adding :”We’re addressing health, mental well-being, and economic empowerment in one transformative programme.”
