SONGEA: Health Minister Jenista Mhagama has commended the USAID Afya Yangu (My Health) Southern and USAID Kizazi Hodari (Brave Generation) Southern Zone projects geared to fight against HIV/AIDS using modern Biometric Fingerprints technology.
Minister Mhagama commended the projects when she visited USAID Afya Yangu (My Health) Southern and USAID Kizazi Hodari (Brave Generation) Southern Zone pavilion during the climax of World Aids Day which were held in Songea Municipal, Ruvuma Region.
After being briefed on technical operations of the USAID Afya Yangu (My Health) Southern and USAID Kizazi Hodari (Brave Generation) Southern Zone projects from Dr Denis Mzaga, Director of Strategic Information for USAID Afya Yangu Southern, the Minister called for collaboration and partnership from all stakeholders and the government in fight against eradicating HIV in the country.

During the celebrations of the World Aids Day which were done one week before the climax, the USAID Afya Yangu (My Health) Southern and USAID Kizazi Hodari (Brave Generation) Southern Zone projects offered various services which included testing services as well as connecting those who reveal HIV infections to treatment and care clinics (CTC), continuous treatment services i.e. antiretroviral drugs, collaborative tuberculosis services, testing of cervical cancer, family planning services as well as referrals for services for victims of various types of violence.
Other services were offering educational services for behavioral change to the community with the aim of building a culture of visiting health centers regularly for checkups as well as capacitate the community to identify
and request services, as well as increasing the ability of the community to identify those in need of services and motivate them to join/go to get the r
