New car heads to spice up Iringa Rally challenge

THE maiden entry of new machine, Ineos Grenadier as a route opener heads to spice up Iringa Rally challenge when it revs off in mid-May this year.
One of the action-packed rounds of the National Rally Championship, Iringa Rally will be flagged in Iringa on May 13th and 14th this year.
Speaking recently in Dar es Salaam during the rally’s official launch, Chairman of Iringa Motor Sports Club Amjad Khan said preparations for the two-day racing are going on well and everything is in place.
He added that apart from seeing cars competing, it is also a good platform to promote the growth of motor sport in the country as many people are lined to participate.
For many years Tanzania motor rallies have been a Subaru-Mitsubishi Evos showdown, but this time around Ford Fiesta has been a force to reckon with in many events staged there.
“The other thing is that we will be promoting tourism hence we are doing two things at once…this is so because in Iringa, there are many tourist attraction places which is good for the incoming visitors.
“Let me also thank the government of President Samia Suluhu Hassan for allowing us to conduct the rally at Sao Hill Forest which is owned by the state,” Khan said.
He also seized the platform to encourage Iringa residents to economically utilise this opportunity well as many people who will be in the region for the rally.
Again the chairman hailed CMC Automobiles for accepting to be main sponsor of the contest for the first time and hoped that the good gesture will continue for unforeseeable future.
In her brief remarks, CMC Automobiles Sales Manager Jennifer Gower said it is a privilege for their latest brand Ineos Grenadier to be a route opener for the rally.
“Grenadier is a purpose-built car and for the first time, it will be introduced in the country as a zero car for the rally as such, people should come in big number to see this powerful brand,” she said.
Similarly, Clerk of the Course (CoC) Jabu Maalim said that time is here for Tanzania to make a step further in motor sporting while insisting that the event is going to be exceptional.
“All necessary conditions to govern professional rally have been considered as such, we invite many people to come and be part of history making as far as this sport is considered,” he said.
