NEMC ordered to educate the public on environmental management laws

DODOMA: IN a move to ensure sustainable environmental conservation, the Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office (Union and Environment), Engineer Ahmad Masauni, has directed the National Environment Management Council (NEMC) to intensify efforts in providing public services and education on environmental management laws.

Engineer Masauni issued the directive today, June 25, 2025, while addressing the NEMC management during a working session held at the Council’s conference hall in Dodoma.

The Minister emphasized that Tanzanians must stop taking environmental issues lightly and instead take responsibility for protecting the environment so it remains a safe and habitable space.

He stated that the Council has a major responsibility to ensure that the environment is protected, and for this to be successful, it is essential that each one of us fulfills our duties in environmental conservation and management.

On her part, NEMC’s Director General, Dr. Immaculate Sware Semesi, thanked the Minister for the opportunity to engage directly with the Council’s management and for listening to various views aimed at improving both the Council’s performance and the nation’s environmental well-being.

The meeting is part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and promote effective environmental stewardship across the country.
