NAESA, TFRA partner to bolster delivery of agricultural extension services across Tanzania
DODOMA: THE National Agricultural Extension Services Agency (NAESA) is set to strengthen the delivery of agricultural extension services across the country through a strategic partnership with the Tanzania Fertilizer Regulatory Authority (TFRA), a move expected to boost agricultural productivity and crop yields among farmers.
Speaking during a joint meeting between NAESA and TFRA officials held at the NAESA headquarters in the Dr John Samuel Malecela Grounds, Nzuguni, Dodoma, Acting Chief Executive Officer of NAESA, Dr Wilhelm Leonard Mafuru, said the partnership marks a new chapter in improving extension service delivery by reaching farmers directly.
Dr Mafuru said the collaboration aims to ensure farmers receive practical training on the proper use of fertilisers alongside quality extension services that will enhance agricultural productivity and efficiency.
“The integration of our systems will enable extension officers to work more efficiently while strengthening collaboration in the delivery of education, knowledge and innovation that will help improve productivity in the agricultural sector,” he said.

TFRA Director General Joel Laurent said the two institutions have complementary mandates in advancing the country’s agricultural sector and that the partnership will enhance the delivery of services to farmers.
He noted that the collaboration will include capacity-building programmes for extension officers, promotion of the proper use of fertilisers, establishment of demonstration farms and provision of soil health education to improve crop productivity, strengthen food security and increase farmers’ incomes.
The two leaders emphasised that the partnership between NAESA and TFRA will play a pivotal role in ensuring farmers have access to quality extension services, certified fertilisers and accurate guidance on their proper use, ultimately contributing to the sustainable development of Tanzania’s agricultural sector.
