Mwinyi pushes for tighter coordination on Fumba strategic projects

ZANZIBAR: ZANZIBAR President Hussein Mwinyi has urged for stronger coordination among ministries and agencies overseeing key investments in Fumba area, saying this will be critical to ensuring timely, well-planned and efficient delivery of major strategic projects.

Speaking during a tour of investment sites in Fumba, accompanied by several cabinet ministers and senior government officials, Dr Mwinyi emphasised that closer collaboration would help avoid overlapping responsibilities, bureaucratic delays, and communication gaps that can stall progress.

“With major developments already underway, including the AFCON stadium and supporting infrastructure, it is vital to identify land allocations early to prevent conflicts over land use,” Dr Mwinyi said.

He underscored the importance of transparency, adherence to proper landuse procedures, and interministerial cooperation to secure maximum benefits for the Isles in terms of investments, job creation, and modern infrastructure.

Following a closed-door meeting on the matter, Dr Mwinyi approved a series of site visits to assess the current situation and inspect road networks, which he said would be used to guide efficient implementation of projects.
