Mwinyi pledges to complete 30-year-old unfinished health centre in Mpapa Village

ZANZIBAR President, Dr Hussein Mwinyi has assured the residents of Mpapa Village in Unguja Central District that the government is committed to addressing the social challenges facing the community.

President Mwinyi made the pledge while speaking to Muslim worshippers after attending Friday prayers at Ijumaa Masjid in the village.

He urged the residents to remain patient, assuring them that the government has plans to resolve the issues they face.

Among the challenges highlighted by the residents were poor roads, lack of a perimeter fence at Mpapa School and the long-standing issue of incomplete health centre.

The health centre, which has remained unfinished for nearly 30 years, was initially started with contributions from the local community.

“The government will resolve these problems because they are crucial to achieving the development goals in this village.

No community should be left behind in development,” President Mwinyi said. Dr Mwinyi also inspected the unfinished health centre, which has been incomplete despite the community’s efforts over the years.

In addition to addressing local concerns, President Mwinyi called on the worshippers to continue praying for peace in the country, especially at this time when the Nation heads to the general elections.

“Pray for peace, unity and for our leaders as we prepare for the elections,” he noted.

The President stressed that the country’s current development achievements have been made possible by the prevailing peace and stability and pledged to continue working towards further progress.

Many worshippers called for love and kindness, reminding each other that such virtues were highly valued in the eyes of the God.
